[SOLVED] Windows installation instructions suggestion

$
0
0

according to pyReScene's README

Windows installation instructions ================================= ..... Edit the .bat files to reflect the path where Python and the script source code is located: e.g. C:\Python33\python.exe C:\pyReScene\bin\srr %*

Python adds itself to the windows environment variable during install, and the most users also add pyReScene there. If you would change per default the pysrr.bat and pysrs.bat files according to my suggestion, then there would be no need to edit these 2 files anymore.

Replace following code in pysrr.bat

 python.exe srr %*

with this one

 python.exe %~dp0srr %*

The same goes for pysrs.bat.

If you want to know what the "%~dp0"-reference exactly does, see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5034076/what-does-dp0-mean-and-how-does-it-work

Kind regards,
Nihil

Recreate folders + move files only (based on SRR)

Hi, I'm fairly new to grabbing stuff through usenet and I'd like my downloads to get the original directory structure in the end. When downloading a movie/tv-show I often end up with the original rar files + sample, subs & proof-jpg, which should be in their own subfolders. From what I can tell the SRR function in ReScene is to rebuild the entire structure with an extracted moviefile. My question is whether I can use the SRR to simply create the subfolders needed + move correct files into correct folder ?

And if this is possible, even better would be a plugin/script for i.e. SABnzbd that would do this on the fly.

Thanks.

[SOLVED] "ReScene" bad .mp3 files

[TL;DR]
Is there a tutorial and files you need to ReCreate/ReBuild/ReScene a bad tagged .mp3 that does not match originally CRC32?!
[TL;DR\]

So I'm new to this all and my scripting/programming/coding skills are more than weak. I sucessfully rebuild few things with the GUI Tool of sobmorok.korombos. I also succesfully reconstructed .rar files from extracted .iso files with pyReScene and the tutorial of OPG.FORUM that is linked somewhere in this wiki. So i wanted to check out if there's a possibility to actually "ReScene" some bad .mp3 that got bad CRC32 during the SFV check. I tried with some script I found but honestly I didn't get along with it. So my question is (I put it here because this themes the only place for mp3 related stuff in this forum) if there's a tutorial with files needed (batch or something like that) to get the the originally state (ID3 tags …) of a mp3 file back.

[SOLVED] How to Correct Bad SFV on MP3 Files

Hey I'm just wondering if it's possible to fix mp3 releases which may have been corrupted using rescene? I've followed the tutorial and tried to figure it out but am getting stuck and don't really know what to do? Is this possible? And if so would someone mind helping me with the steps? I'd appreciate any help I could get or how to go about it! Thank you in advance!

[SOLVED] Is there a more recent version of pyrescene executable for Windows???

$

Like the title says. Is there a more recent version than that old pyReScene-0.5.1-win from 2013? It would be nice to have one with all the fixes since then, since I don't particularly have the want or need to clutter up my laptop with an installation of Python and tons of bat files just to recreate a few tiny rar files here and there primarily for old scene dox that tend to spit out that stupid "ERROR: Unknown option: mt1None" message otherwise.

-o Parameter Problem

$

I'm having a problem using the -o parameter

If the *.srr file includes some of the files needed to re-create the Scene Release (.NFO .JPG) and I'm using the -o parameter, it starts out by creating the .NFO and .JPG in the -o output directory, then tells me it can't find them.

It works OK if I don't use the -o parameter, but then it puts all of the files in the same directory.

Example:

I put in the G:\in directory:
Super_Monkey_Ball_3D_EUR_3DS-LGC.srr
lgc-mb3d.3ds

and the G:\out starts out empty

-I run-

G:\00>python.exe G:\pyReScene-0.5.1\bin\srr Super_Monkey_Ball_3D_EUR_3DS-LGC.srr
-i g:\in -o g:\out -p -z g:\rarout

SRR file created with pyReScene 0.1.
Recreating stored file: dumper3ds.jpg
Recreating stored file: lgc-mb3d.nfo
Recreating stored file: lgc-mb3d.sfv
Re-creating RAR file: lgc-mb3d.rar
The file does not exist: g:\in\lgc-mb3d.nfo.

Hello,

There's a problem I encountered on several releases; maybe it's a bug?…
I run pysrr and everything works fine, it recreates the original rar files, but it fails on the last .rxx file.

Hello.

I downloaded the package with versions of WinRAR (of the site ReScene and OPG forum).

The problem is some releases (eg. "Call.of.Juarez.The.Cartel.Update.1-SKIDROW") I can not reconstruct the original RARs of the release.

Appears "No good RAR version found.".

Where can I download all the possible versions of WinRARs?

Thank you.

[SOLVED] questions about the -l option

$

hello,

I have two questions. Is it possible to easily extract the archived files CRC information from multiple srr files. I have some already extracted files that I would like to check. The -l option lists everything, but I would like to only have the archived file CRC if that's possible. And how do I run the -l option on multiple files? srr.exe -l *.srr gives an "Input file not found: *.srr" error.

Thanks!

Feature suggestion: Track rebuilding of compressed archives

$

I would like to make a suggestion for the recreation of compressed RARs:

pyrescene should keep track in some kind of log file which RAR version was used to successfully rebuild a release.
This log file then could either be uploaded to srrdb automatically - or simply uploaded manually by everyone who wants to contribute.

This would enrich srrdb in at least two ways:
a) it would display in an additional field which RAR version can be used to reconstruct
b) it tracks which releases were rebuilt successfully

Rebuilders could save an incredible amount of time if the RAR version needed for rebuilding is known.
Likewise, releases which are currently unable to rebuilt would be cataloged.

Can't srr rebuild anything

Hello, I have downloaded pyrescene 0.6 beta1 w32.
Also I have downloaded the WinRAR pack from Mediafire and downloaded all additional WinRAR x86 releases from the Rarlab ftp.

After this I unpacked both and ran: "preprardir -b rar1 rar2" to unpack all the winrar versions (also betas). I've got every winrar x86 from 2.00 up until 5.30 beta 4.

I tried using "srr -z rar2 release.srr" with several releases, but none of them worked.
Releases from yesterday, and a few months back. All output I got was "trying xxxx-xx-xx version" loads of times and it crashed at the end.

- If I try less winrar versions, say only the first 4 it gives me this:

Grabbing large enough data piece size for testing. Trying 2015-07-30 5.30. Trying 2015-08-23 5.30. Trying 2015-09-10 5.30. Trying 2015-09-13 5.30. Grabbing large enough data piece size for testing. Trying 2015-07-30 5.30.

and then it hangs until I end the process.

Are all the WinRAR x86 versions enough to rebuild every release? Because if I put winrar-x64 versions in the preprardir directory as well it doesnt rename properly, so maybe those files are the same.
Are there differences between all the x64, x86, osx, linux, etc versions of rar that could give problems trying to rebuild an archive?

Am I doing something else wrong?

Thanks for helping me! :)

How to discover the version of WinRAR used in compression?

How to discover the version of WinRAR compression used in a RAR file?

For example, I can not reconstruct the releases:

Resident.Evil.Revelations.2.Episode.1-CODEX
Resident.Evil.Revelations.2.Episode.2-CODEX
Resident.Evil.Revelations.2.Episode.3-CODEX
Resident.Evil.Revelations.2.Episode.4-CODEX

I have all versions of WinRAR.

The parameter "-e" of the file "srr.exe" not show me this detail.

ReScene with help of original rar files

$

After a HD crash, some files can be recovered and some files can't.
What if for example I have the original .iso of a game, completely fine and also some of the original rars.

Can the original rars help rebuild the archive if a complete rebuild doesn't work?

For example I have game.iso which is 100% good and I have 60/90 rar files that are 100% good with the sfv match.
Is it possible to use the 60 good files to complete the missing 30 rar files in between?

Would be a cool feature if it was possible to use the information of the rars that are good and thus increase the chances/speed of fully rebuilding the release.

Catch22 - need file_id.diz to ReScene, but file_id.diz is inside package!

$

I run into this every so often and have never found a work-around.

Example:
Zero_Escape_Virtues_Last_Reward_EUR_3DS-ABSTRAKT.srr

It has 2 Stored Files:
as-vlr.nfo
as-vlr.sfv

It has 3 Archived Files:
file_id.diz
AS-VLR.NFO
AS-VLR.3DS

If I put the correct source file, AS-VLR.3DS, in my srr directory along with its .srr, Zero_Escape_Virtues_Last_Reward_EUR_3DS-ABSTRAKT.srr
I get this error:

G:\SRR\new>srr Zero_Escape_Virtues_Last_Reward_EUR_3DS-ABSTRAKT.srr -z g:\rarout
SRR file created with pyReScene Usenet 1.5.
Re-creating stored file: as-vlr.nfo
Re-creating stored file: as-vlr.sfv
Re-creating RAR file: as-vlr.rar
The file does not exist: G:\SRR\new\file_id.diz.

Is the issue here that whoever created this SRR package did it wrong and omitted the file_id.diz ?

If so, is there a way I can attach the correct file_id.diz file to the .srr when I locate it, so others that stumble across these errored .srr files can still process them?

Missing/requests

Unable to rescene certain game iso releases with .cue files

$
0
0

hi,

first of all, thanks for this amazing application and the hard work behind it!

i have also had issues regarding the small size files (rescene process failed), especially .cue files of older game iso releases, but i have gathered a little experience that might be helpful for fixing this annoying bug in the future.

the older game iso releases contain a cd image file (.bin) and a cue sheet (.cue), the trick is the place of the .cue file within archive.

when the .cue was placed in the first rar fragment (.001), the pysrr (0.6, win) wanted to find proper rar version for it without any success, regardless of trying the final retail versions only, or the full scale rar folder containing the betas too. in both cases "no good rar version found".

i have also tried to use older versions of srr.exe (0.4 win, 0.5 win). strangely, these were able to find a "proper" rar version (2.6), but it seemed to be odd due its overdated version for a f.e. 2003 release like Harbinger-FLT. after matching the .cue with the "proper" rar version, the software continued to look for proper rar version for the .bin file without success, just like before: "no good rar version found".

i wanted to rescene the followings:
The_Lord_Of_The_Rings_War_Of_The_Ring-FLT
Tomb_Raider_4-FLT
Heroes_of_Might_and_Magic_III_Shadow_of_Death-FLT
Harbinger-FLT

their common thing is that all of these games were released by FAiRLiGHT, having the same approach: placing the .cue into the first fragment (.001), thus the rescene process failed everytime due to the lack of proper rar version for the .cue file.

i have also tried to remove the .cue file and fill up its presence with fake files (-f), but the result was the same: the process moved on to the .bin file, but "no good rar version found".

in parallel, i had some DEViANCE and RELOADED releases to rescene, and the process worked every time:
THE.MOVIES.DVD-DEViANCE
The.Movies.Stunts.And.Effects-RELOADED
GHOST.MASTER-DEViANCE
Postal.2.Apocalypse.Weekend-RELOADED
HOMEWORLD-DVNiSO

again, the difference between these releases and the FLT releases is the position of the .cue files within the archive. the last rar fragment contained the .cue file, thus the rescene process started to look for proper rar version for the .bin file first. after detecting the proper version, the archive was created up until the last fragment, into which the .cue file should have been inserted. the rar version detection was started for the .cue file, trying out every single rar version (betas too, so it took for ages…) without success ("no good rar version found"). however, the process moved on: it created the archive fragments up until the last one, and added the .cue file into the last fragment probably "as it is". this resulted in a proper final fragment with proper CRC number, the rescene was successful. (i can upload some pics about the process, if needed.)

i am not an IT guy, so i am just guessing, but maybe the .cue file was inserted into the last rar archive file without any compression or manipulation.

in case of the FLT releases, the pysrr process wants to compress the .cue files the same the .bin files are compressed. this compression alters the first rar volume by altering the cut-point of the .bin arhive, and the rar detection process fails.

is it possible to leave the .cue file out of the rar detection process, by inserting it as it is (unchanged, uncompressed, unmanipulated) into the first volume, and look for proper rar version for the .bin file afterwards up to the rest of the arhive fragment size?

i hope these case studies help you anyhow, and thank you again for everything.
rescene is amazing!

best regards,
zoltan_g
